2016 Volunteer Application

Volunteers are critical to the success of the Surrey 2016 WBSC XV Women's World Softball Championship! We need the community's support to help ensure that this event is the hit of the summer! There is a volunteer opportunity for almost everyone with Surrey 2016! Volunteers are required in areas such as: Security and Parking, Scorekeeping, Batgirls, Ticket Sales, Set-up and Take-down, Field Crew and more! Please specify on the Surrey 2016 Volunteer Application Form which area you would be best suited for. Some volunteer areas fill up more quickly than others, so please apply today. Please note that our volunteer positions are filling up quickly. We currently are working on scheduling all volunteers that have applied to assess what areas we still require volunteers. We are still accepting applications but you may be asked if you can volunteer with a committee not listed under your preferences, or if you can volunteer with the Canadian Open Tournament (being held at Cloverdale Athletic Park and Sunnyside Park).


Accreditation Photo Upload

Event Accreditation will require photos for all persons/players/coaches/volunteers and staff. Photos should be JPG format, a headshot type photo similar to a Passport Photo. Please size to 275px high by 200px wide.

Availability Grid - Volunteers must commit to minimum of 4 shifts (20 hours) during event and may be asked to work at least one (1) shift (5 hours) pre/post event

Canada Cup International Softball Championship


If you are under 18 years of age at the time of completing your application, you must have a parent or legal guardian read and understand the preceding release and waiver, and agree to the terms of the release and waiver.

1.  Waiver and Release. I hereby release Canada Cup International Softball Championship, the organizers, and sponsors of this event, from all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter, arise from my participation with the Canada Cup International Softball Championship .

2.  Assumption of Risk. I understand and acknowledge that my time with the Canada Cup International Softball Championship could include activities that may involve certain elements of risk or the chance of injury. I hereby expressly and specifically assume the risk of injury or harm and release the Canada Cup International Softball Championship from all liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage resulting from the activities of my time as a volunteer with the Canada Cup International Softball Championship. I also understand that the Canada Cup International Softball Championship does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury, illness, death, or property damage. You are expected and encouraged at all times to carry your insurance card while volunteering.

3.  Photographic Release. I hereby consent to the reproduction, publication and use of photographic images, video and audio recordings taken of me / my child at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship. Such content will not be used for resale purposes, but may be featured in promotional or highlight materials such as television, radio, film, newspapers, magazines, online and other media, and in any form, for the purpose of advertising or communicating the purposes and activities of the Canada Cup International Softball Championship .

I understand that I will neither own or be paid for the Recordings. I hereby release and discharge any right, title or interest that may have in the Recordings or in any remuneration for using the image / video / audio recordings.

4.  Code of Conduct and Policies. I agree to abide by all applicable policies, codes and rules, as may be amended from time to time, and will follow all instructions of the Canada Cup International Softball Championship  Organizing Committee in carrying out the volunteer activities. I understand failure to follow the Canada Cup International Softball Championship policies may result in termination of volunteer activities.

Provision of personal information

The Canada Cup International Softball Championship volunteer application process requires you to provide the Organizing Committee with certain personal information. Personal information is collected to review applicants' availability and qualifications for the various assignments at the event. Use of this data will be restricted to essential purposes; applicant data will not be forwarded to third parties or used to exclude any applicant(s). Important information requested from applicants includes such things as relevant volunteer and professional experience, interests, schedule and availability, personal characteristics, reason for applying, expectations, language abilities, geographic preferences, and education. Other elements (such as uniform size) are also important to capture for planning purposes, though they have no impact on applicant selection and assignment.

Failure to provide the personal information requested, may result in our inability to process your volunteer application or provide you with the information you have requested.

Storage and security of your personal information

The Organizing Committee will ensure that the personal information you provide to us is protected against loss or misuse by such security safeguards, as it is reasonable in the circumstances to take.

Access and correction of your personal information

**Please note that all applicants will undergo a screening process and that a Volunteer role will not automatically be offered. Volunteers may also be required to complete a Criminal Record Check and provide a Driver's Abstract (if driving a vehicle is part of the Volunteer position)
